Minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures gained prominence in the 1980’s with the laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). Laparoscopic procedures use smaller incisions which usually result in faster recovery times, shorter hospital stays, less pain and less scarring.

Our surgeons continue to introduce state of the art techniques to Springfield. Several of our surgeons use micro instruments which leave nearly invisible scars.
